Every pageant has its own rules and regulations.

Beauty pageants are common across the country and they are held for many reasons. One reason is to celebrate the person beauty and natural grace of the contestants. Another is to help raise money for charities and funds. Each beauty pageant has its own rules and regulations that regulate how the pageant is run. Creating your own pageant rules and regulations will require some careful consideration and should be specific to your pageant.

Instructions

    • 1

Pick an appropriate entrance fee as well as the reward prizes for first, second and third place. Set the entrance fees high enough to help pay for the cost of the beauty pageant as well as to make enough money to reward the contestants. Set an amount of money that sponsors can contribute to a contestant.

    • 2

List the pieces of information a contestant will need to apply. These forms can include items such as pictures, drivers' licenses, letters of recommendation, Social Security cards, marriage licenses or any other form you see fit to prove your contestants are eligible to compete.

    • 3

Set behavioral guidelines for your pageant contestants. These guidelines should include how they behave during the pageant or in their hotel rooms and the way they present themselves in public. Forbid inappropriate behavior such as smoking in public, swearing, public displays of affection or any other behaviors you don't want your contestants displaying.

    • 4

Make sure you write each inappropriate behavior down separately and indicate that inappropriate behavior will be judged by a panel. Indicate that inappropriate behavior can lead to being dismissed from the pageant.

    • 5

Describe the types of bathing suits and gowns that can be worn, including their lengths and any frills added. Make sure to include a rule that contestants must do their own makeup and preparation.

    • 6

Write the rules for the interview sections. List the type of questions that may be asked and the appropriate methods of answering these questions. Forbid swearing, racist comments, slander and any other negative verbal communication during the questions.

    • 7

Describe the types of talent that is appropriate for the talent section. Let the contestants know that their talent must be approved prior to performing. Describe how they will be judged during these sections.

    • 8

Compile a guideline for how your contestants will be judged, including which aspects of the pageant will be weighed more heavily than others.

    • 9

List any other rules and regulations, such as whether or not pageant competitors can have visitors to their hotel, the guidelines for leaving the hotel and anything else appropriate for your pageant.
