How to Open Elgin Full Cased Watches

Elgin National Watch company has been manufacturing various types of watches since 1864. It is well-known for its iconic pocket watches. At times, Elgin pocket watch owners may find it necessary to open the case of their pocket watch to make repairs and replace parts. It is important to open a full cased Elgin pocket watch properly to avoid damaging the case and the parts found inside the watch.

• Watch case tool

Instructions

1. Push down on the button on the top of the watch to open the front up.

2. Find the small opening on the back of the pocket watch's cover.

3. Place the watch case tool into the opening and lightly twist to open the back of the case.

4. Make any repairs or replacements and place the back of the cover back on. Hold down the button on the top of the watch while snapping the back cover down onto the back of the pocket watch.
