Anglers use multiple hooks when fishing for species such as sunfish.

There are some instances when fishermen want to tie multiple hooks onto their fishing line. Some anglers do it when targeting sunfish and crappies, others while fishing for bass along the bottom. Fishermen can attach multiple hooks to a line without unnecessary pieces of tackle. They can tie the dropper loop knot, also known as a blood loop knot, at any point in the line they want, and then attach a hook to the loop.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the spot on the fishing line where you want a hook. Make a loop in the line at that spot.

    • 2

Wrap the loop four to eight times around the spot where the line crosses to create the loop.

    • 3

Grab the center loop and open a small hole.

    • 4

Insert the loop into the hole and pull it through.

    • 5

Lubricate the knot with saliva or water.

    • 6

Hold the loop in your mouth and pull on the line on either side of the knot to tighten it.

    • 7

Attach a hook to the dropper loop by passing the loop through the hook eye and then around the shank. Pull on the loop to tighten the line around the hook eye.
