Make a feather rose decoration using craft supplies.

When you decorate for a bridal or baby shower, you may think of placing fresh roses into vases for use as decorative centerpieces. However, fresh roses can be very pricey. Instead of using fresh roses, make craft roses using colorful feathers. Feather roses will closely resemble real roses, but will be a fraction of the cost of fresh roses. Make feather roses using a few basic materials that can be purchased at any craft store.

Things You'll Need

  • Colorful feathers
  • Scissors

Instructions

    • 1

Cut the fluffy tips off of 12 colorful feathers using scissors. Leave 2 inches in length on each feather tip.

    • 2

Hold a chenille stick vertically in your hand, and squeeze a pea-sized dollop of tacky glue onto one end of the stick.

    • 3

Wrap two feather tips around the chenille stick tip, positioning the feathers so that the fluffy tips are facing up. Allow the glue to dry for five minutes.

    • 4

Apply a line of tacky glue around the bottom of the glued-on feathers, then wrap three feathers onto the glue. Position the feather tips so that the fluffy tips are facing up, as before. Hold the feather tips in place for five minutes to let the glue hold.

Repeat this process until all of the feathers have been applied to the chenille stick. Stagger the feather tips and allow the feathers to splay out naturally as you add them. Allow the feather rose to dry for 30 minutes.

Tips & Warnings
