How to Tweak Photoshop to Recognize a Pablo Tablet

Artists use digital manipulation programs such as Photoshop to create contemporary works of art. To take full advantage of Photoshop, you will need to use a pen tablet such as the Pablo Graphics Tablet. A tablet allows you to draw as if you were drawing on paper, and it even supports pen sensitivity -- the harder you press when drawing on the tablet, the thicker your line will appear in Photoshop. Before you use the tablet, one setting in Photoshop must be modified so that the program recognizes you are using a pressure-sensitive tablet.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch Photoshop. Click "File" and then click "New" to create a new document.

    • 2

Click "Windows," then "Brushes" to open up the Brushes dialog box.

    • 3

Click "Shape Dynamics" to put a check in the box.

    • 4

Choose "Pen Pressure" from the drop-down Control list, found under the Size Jitter scrollbar. Photoshop will now recognize your Pablo tablet.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can modify other settings for your tablet, such as giving your pen a minimum diameter, in the same dialog box.
