How to Start Yarn From a Skein
If your yarn comes in a "pull skein," then a piece of yarn will be sticking up out of the center of the skein. This should be easy to find and pull out. The problem arises when the yarn manufacturer did not provide you with a piece of yarn to pull out. This causes you to have to search for the end of the yarn, which can often times be frustrating. There is a little trick that you can use to find the end of the yarn.

Remove the label on the outside of the skein of yarn.

2
Put your thumb and index finger of each of your hands into inside of the skein at both ends. Pinch the thumb and index finger together, grasping some of the yarn in the middle of the skein.

Pull out the yarn that is between your fingers. The end should be in that group of yarn that you pulled out. Use this end to start your craft project.
