How to Delete Credits on a Blogger Layout

How to Delete Credits on a Blogger Layout thumbnail
Since most Blogger designs are owned by the artist or programmer who created them, you shouldn't completely remove it from your site.

Blogger.com is Google's push-button publishing website. Blogger gives registered users the chance to build their own website, using Blogger's array of prefabricated templates and layouts. If you choose one of Blogger's designs, you'll see a place at the bottom of your site where the artist or programmer responsible for the design is credited. You should not remove this attribution from the bottom of the page unless you plan to relocate the attribution to another location on your website.

Instructions

    • 1

      Click on the "Design" tab on your Blogger dashboard.

    • 2

      Click on the "Edit HTML" option.

    • 3

      Search for the word "Attribution" using your browser's "Find" tool -- this tool is located under the "Edit" drop-down box on Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Internet Explorer.

    • 4

      Delete the HTML code for the attribution widget. Make sure you eliminate the entire code for this section, such as the example below:

      <b:section class='foot' id='footer-3' showaddelement='no'>

      <b:widget id='Attribution1' locked='true' title='' type='Attribution'/>

      </b:section>

      If you do not delete the opening and closing tag of the code, you will get an error from Blogger when you attempt to save the edited HTML.

Tips & Warnings

  • Deleting the HTML code for attribution will eliminate the credits for the template designer/programmer, as well as the credits to Blogger. This information must be contained on your Blogger blog somewhere, otherwise you risk copyright infringement and termination of your account. If you simply didn't like the placement of the attribution at the bottom of your page, you can create a new widget -- at the top of your blog, or on a sidepanel -- to display it.
