How to SSH Into a Mac Pro
Mac Pro workstation-class computers run the Mac OS X operating system. Mac OS X is based on UNIX and contains many UNIX features, including an underlying command-line interface. Mac Pro computers running Mac OS X can be connected to remotely through a command-line Secure Shell, or SSH, connection. SSH was developed as a secure replacement for the Telnet protocol. SSH encrypts all data transmissions. You can SSH into a Mac Pro by preparing the operating system.

Click the System Preferences icon in the dock.

Click the "Sharing" icon.

Click to check "Remote Login." Make a note of the IP address displayed.

Connect to the previously noted IP address from an SSH client. For example, open a Terminal session on another Mac and type "ssh 192.168.1.10" if the Mac Pro's IP is 192.168.1.10.

Enter the user name and password on the Mac Pro to access the computer.
