How to Close Multiple Apps on a Mac

Mac operating systems are designed to multitask and frequently run a number of applications simultaneously. Each application runs as an icon within your system's dock and you can easily exit it from this location. If an application is unresponsive, you can turn this feature into a "Force Quit" query, which causes the application to terminate no matter its current status.

Instructions

    • 1

Review the system dock to determine which running applications you'd like to close.

    • 2

Right-click each application's icon, and then click "Quit" from the drop-down menu list of options.

    • 3

Hold the "Command" key on your Mac keyboard, and then right-click any programs that didn't respond to the initial "Quit" request. Click "Force Quit" from the menu to forcibly terminate the application.
