Instructions

    • 1

Place your plywood on a hard working surface. Pick up your ruler and draw a straight line, using the pencil 1/2-inch down the 6-inch length of the wood.

    • 2

Use a black markers and measure 2 inches up the ruler line. Draw a black dot. Continue another 2 inches, and draw a second black dot. You should have two dots on your plywood that represent the area where you plan to create your holes.

    • 3

Hammer both of your roofing nails through the black dots: Roofing nails are stainless steel nails with a flat head. Hammer these straight through the plywood.

    • 4

Place your plywood opposite-side-up, so that the diamond points of your nails are facing upwards. Pick up the steel file and file straight across the tips of both nails. File the tips off the nails so you create two sharp flat surfaces.

Align a piece of paper with the plywood and press it down firmly over the nails in the desired positions of the holes.

Tips & Warnings

  • Break an old eraser in half and when you are not using your hole punch, and place bits of your eraser over the ends of the nails to keep the sharp edges hidden.
