How to Uninstall Addictive Drum in GarageBand

Addictive Drums is a MIDI-compatible drum plug-in for Mac OS X and Windows. You can use the plug-in with your favorite recording software, such as Apple's GarageBand, to create live drum sounds. When you install the plug-in on an Apple computer, the file automatically sorts into the appropriate folder, and if you want to uninstall the plug-in at a later time, you must simply locate and remove the file.

Instructions

    • 1

Close GarageBand, if the software is currently open on your computer. To close GarageBand, click "File" on the GarageBand menu bar and select "Quit" from the bottom of the list.

    • 2

Open your main hard drive folder, sometimes called "Macintosh HD" by default. From there, click the "Library" folder, followed by "Audio," "Plug-Ins" and "Components." Inside this folder, you will find your Audio Unit files. Audio Units are plug-ins specially designed for use with music recording software, primarily used by Macintosh computers.

    • 3

Click the "Addictive Drums" file and drag it to the "Trash" icon on your desktop. Right-click or Ctrl-click the "Trash" icon and click "Empty Trash." You have now completely removed the Addictive Drums plug-in from your computer.

    • 4

Open GarageBand. When you create a new software instrument track and click the "Sound Generator" tab, or "Software Instrument" tab for older Garageband versions, you will notice that Addictive Drums no longer appears as an option.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you want to uninstall Addictive Drums from GarageBand but still hold on to the plug-in, just move it to a different folder rather than throwing it in the trash. GarageBand will only access plug-ins that are in the appropriate plug-ins folder.
