How to Dye Slippers
Slippers are typically made of satin and they are common shoes for ballet performances and formal events like weddings. Satin slippers have an attractive shine, but they typically come only in white, with a significant surcharge added for dyeing. If it is vital that your shoes match your outfit, opt for professional dyeing. However, if you simply want to color your satin slippers, you can do it at home using dye specifically made for the purpose.
Things You'll Need

Instructions

1
Stuff your plain white satin shoes tightly with tissue paper. This prevents any dye from getting into the interior of the shoe.
-
2
Set a medium-sized pot of water to heat. While it should not be boiled, the water should be kept hot.
-
-
3
Put on a pair of rubber gloves.
-
4
Add a pinch of powdered satin shoe dye to the water and stir with a wooden spoon. Add the dye in pinches and continue stirring between pinches until you get the color you want.
-
5
Turn down the heat to low.
-
6
Cover your work area with newspaper, as this dye stains.
-
7
Dip the sponge into the warm dye.
-
8
Dab the dye onto the satin of the slippers, coating the satin as evenly as possible. Continue until both slippers are colored with the dye.
-
9
Allow the slippers to dry for one full day.
-
10
Redye the slippers using the same process if you want them to be darker.
