Driveway stone is a cheaper alternative to paving with cement or using blacktop. However, spreading the driveway stone can take a lot of work.       Ensure that the driveway is flat and even before spreading the stone. Fill in any ruts or holes in your driveway with dirt.

      Use a dump truck for larger driveways to spread the stone evenly. Drive the truck along the driveway, dumping the rocks and stones.

      Utilize a shovel and wheelbarrow for smaller jobs or for specific areas. Fill a wheelbarrow or the back of a pickup truck with the driveway stone. Use a shovel to dump out piles of gravel every so often along the driveway.
