How to Build a Locker Shelf

How to Build a Locker Shelf thumbnail
You can add additional shelves to your locker to help keep it organized.

If you own a locker, you can bolt or screw the locker shelves in place. However, most people don't own the lockers they use regularly. Usually, the lockers belong to a school, fitness club or employer. You can build shelves to fit such lockers and install them without permanently damaging or modifying the locker.

Things You'll Need

  • Hammer
  • 8 finishing nails
  • Wood glue
  • 4 wood strips (1/2 inch by 1/2 inch by 4 inch)
  • Sheet of plywood (1/2 inch)
  • Measuring tape

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the depth and width inside the locker. Using those dimensions, cut one plywood sheet to match.

    • 2

Glue four wooden strips in each corner of the sheet of plywood. Allow them to dry for a couple hours.

    • 3

Hammer two finishing nails into each wood strip to reinforce them.

    • 4

Place the plywood shelf either on the bottom or middle of the locker as needed. Use these steps to create additional locker shelves.
