Before hiding that burn stain with a piece of furniture, try fading and removing it. When you drop a glass of red wine on your Berber rug, the object in cleaning is to remove the red wine, and its red color, from the carpet fibers. With a burn stain, it is a bit different. Instead of adding a substance to the fibers, like red wine, the fire changes the ends of the carpet fibers, turning them brown and singed. Does this Spark an idea?

  • Hydrogen peroxide
  • Cup
  • 3 white rag
  • Scissors or disposable razor

Instructions

      Combine one part hydrogen peroxide with five parts water.

      Blot the stain repeatedly with the solution, using a clean white rag. This is to fade the stain. Rinse the area with fresh water, blotting with a clean rag. Blot dry with a dry rag.

      Snip off the remaining singed fibers using a sharp scissors or disposable razor. Be careful not to remove too much of the fibers.

      Fluff up the carpet fibers using the tips your fingers.
