Using traditional Middle Eastern imamahs (commonly referred to as turbans) for scarves is a great way to integrate a multicultural style into your wardrobe. These turbans consist of a single large cotton fabric square, which is often patterned or embroidered with intricate and beautiful patters and colors. Folding one of these into a scarf can be done in many ways, one of which is the "triangle fold." When mastered, this style can be worn around your neck, shoulders or even as a belt.       Lay your turban on a table, good side down. Most turbans have a finished side and an underside that backs the pattern; the underside should be facing upward. It should be placed it front of you with a point of the square facing you, in a diamond orientation as opposed to a square.

      Fold in half by pulling the corner opposite you toward yourself, with the corner folded over to the one closest to you, forming a big triangle shape.

      Fold the bottom tip of the triangle back toward the opposite tip about 3 inches. Repeat this step until you have a long strip, with a point of the triangle at either end. This strip of fabric can now to tied around your neck, used as a belt or loosely wrapped around your shoulders.
