How to Cut a Pineapple & Leave the Shell
There are a number of different techniques for cutting a pineapple. Some techniques leave the shell completely intact, while others divide the shell in the cutting process. In order to cut a pineapple and leave the shell nearly completely intact, you will need a pineapple slicer. A pineapple slicer is designed to remove the core of the pineapple while separating the pineapple fruit from the skin. Does this Spark an idea?

Place the pineapple on its side on top of a cutting board.

Cut the top off of the pineapple with a sharp knife, creating a flat surface at the top of the pineapple.

Stand the pineapple upright and place the cutting end of the pineapple slicer on top of the pineapple.

Center the pineapple slicer on top of the pineapple so that the slicer stays inside the perimeter of the pineapple while cutting.

Press down with the pineapple slicer and turn the handle clockwise while doing so. As you turn the pineapple slicer, it will cut through the pineapple by removing the core and detaching the flesh of the pineapple from the outer shell.

Continue turning the pineapple slicer while pressing downward until you reach the bottom of the pineapple shell.

Pull upward on the pineapple slicer to remove the pineapple flesh from the shell.

Remove the top of the pineapple slicer by pressing the release button and pulling upward.

Pull the slices of pineapple off the pineapple slicer.
