How to Move an Application to the Dock on a MacBook
The Dock is one of the primary navigation elements in Apple's Mac OS X operating system, allowing you to access your most-used and favorites applications from your Desktop. When you take your MacBook out of the box, the Dock comes loaded with default applications like iTunes, Mail, iChat and System Preferences. You can keep these if you like, but you can also add and remove any application to and from the Dock to customize it to your specific needs.
