Comb out your hair to remove any tangles. Separate and tie up the hair you want to use to create your fauxhawk using hair ties. Use hair clips to mark guidelines for your fade at the sides of your head. The guidelines set where each layer of your taper will start.

2
Tie a barber's cape around your neck to catch any hair clippings. Attach length guards to a set of clippers, and begin clipping the section below your fauxhawk. The size of guard you choose will determine how close to the scalp you will cut the hair. Clip from below the fauxhawk to your first guideline. Change your guard to a lower size as you move on to the next guideline. Continue changing length guards to lower and lower sizes until you arrive at your last section where you must shave the hair close to your head.

Release the hair you want to use for your fauxhawk. Comb the hair out, and trim it with scissors. Cut the fauxhawk so it comes to a peak. When finished styling your high-fade fauxhawk, you should have a central strip of hair that gradually fades all around the cleaner cut sides of your head. Use a liner to line all around the edges of the hairline and get rid of any stray hairs.
