Take the Indian Adiministrative Exam to apply for civil service jobs.

The Union Public Service Commission in India requires all applicants to the Indian Civil Service take the Indian Administrative Exam. The exam is used to determine who will fill civil jobs like administrative services, police services, foreign services and revenue services. The Indian Administrative exam contains three parts; the Civil Services Aptitude Test, the main exam and an interview. All applicants must have a degree from an Indian university, the equivalent, or be in the last year of study, be 21 years old, and be an Indian citizen. Applications for the exam process are available online and by mail.

      Visit www.upsconline.nic.in to apply online at the official online application site. You will need to mail in the acknowledgment card as well as fill out the application. The acknowledgment card is a card the applicant addresses, applies postage to and sends by mail. Once the applicant is accepted into the exam, the card will be mailed back to him as an admittance ticket or as a denial.

      Purchase an official paper application from your local post office. Only official applications from the post office are allowed. Photocopies or other companies' applications will be denied. The application comes with a brochure explaining how to fill it in and what documents are required.

      Mail the completed application to Controller of Examinations, Union Public Service Commission, Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi-110069, in the envelope provided in the information brochure.

      Apply for the exam through your supervisor or send the application directly to the commission you wish to transfer to if you are already a government employee. You may be subject to communication between the commission you are applying for and your supervisor, so your supervisor must be made aware that you are applying.

      Wait for your acknowledgment card to arrive in the mail. If you submitted the application by the deadline and still haven't received your card within a week of the exam date, you can go online to upsc.gov.in/Query/csp/csp_venue_query.htm and submit your registration ID to see if you were accepted.
