How to Construct an Ogive Graph
Ogive graphs and charts are used to show cumulative frequency. A line connects the top points of each item to show the flow of the information. While Ogive graphs can be done manually, it saves time and effort by inputting the data into a database. Select the inputted data and use a chart wizard to make the graph. Open Microsoft Excel. Click on the "Data tab." Click on "Data Analysis" option in the "Analysis" section. Select the "Histogram" option and click the "OK" button.

Click on the "Input Range" section. Highlight the range by clicking and holding the mouse on the first cell of the range and dragging the mouse to the last cell of the range. Click on the "Bin Range" section. Highlight the range by clicking and holding the mouse on the first cell of the range and dragging the mouse to the last cell of the range.

Check the "Labels" checkbox.

Select the "New Worksheet" option and type the name of the new worksheet in the "New Worksheet" textbox.

Check "Cumulative Percentage" and "Chart Output" options. Click on the "OK" button. A chart appears in a new worksheet.

Click on the bars in the graph and press the "Delete" button to remove them.

Double-click on the "Y-Axis" and select the "Add Major Gridlines" option from the drop down menu.

Click on the "Histogram" text and delete it. Type "Ogive" in the textbox for the title. Click on the labels and rename the labels by typing the new names in the text boxes.

Click on the "File" button and select the "Save" option.
