How to Do the Laughing Face on Gmail

Express yourself in your Gmail message with emoticons.

Gmail is Google's free email service, running Google's powerful search engine. Make your email message expressive by embedding your emotions within it. Instead of representing a smiley face with a colon and right parenthesis, :), choose from a wide variety of graphics animations called emoticons inside your Gmail editor, including a "laughing face" emoticon.

1. Log into your Gmail account. Click "Compose Message."

2. Click the yellow smiley-face icon above your message area.

3. Select from two emoticon types - square or circle. The square emoticon set has two animated, yellow laughing faces and one static, pink face. The circle set has only static faces and there are three laughing faces to choose from.

4. Continue editing your message and click "Send" when you ready.

Tips & Warnings

• You can retrieve additional emoticon sets by going to the Labs area. To access Labs, click the Gears icon and select Labs. Navigate through the long list of features and enable the "Extra Emoji" feature by Yuzo F.
