It is easy to clean the inside of some one-piece pacifiers.

Many different kinds of infant pacifiers are available for purchase in the United States. Various shapes, styles, colors and designs provide a wide range of choices for new parents. Some pacifiers are made of a single piece of rubber or other material, whereas other pacifiers are made from several non-removable parts. The one-piece pacifiers are easier to clean, though most pacifiers can be sterilized.

Instructions

    • 1

Clean the pacifier with soap and warm water if the exterior is visibly soiled. Any hand soap or dish soap is fine to use for cleaning your baby's pacifier. Alternatively, you can place the pacifier into the silverware basket of your dishwasher and run through a cycle with your dishes.

    • 2

Clean the inside of an open, one-piece pacifier using the small end of a bottle brush or a small toothbrush. Pacifiers that are made from multiple pieces do not open for cleaning. This type of pacifier should not get dirt and debris down inside; if it does it should be discarded and replaced with a new pacifier.

    • 3

Bring 2 to 3 cups of water to a boil in a saucepan. Carefully drop the pacifier into the boiling water and boil for five minutes. The boiling water will seep into the inside of the pacifier and sterilize it, eliminating any bacteria that may have gotten caught there.

Place the pacifier on a clean plate and allow to cool completely to prevent a burn before giving to your baby.
