How to Close the Bing Bar

Users of Bing, an alternative to search engines such as Google and Yahoo!, can install and use the Bing toolbar on Internet Explorer in order to make searching on Bing more convenient. Although most users find the Bing Bar to be useful, you may find that the Bing Bar makes your browser run slower than usual. Whatever the reason that you may want to stop using the Bing Bar, closing it merely involves clicking the correct button.

      Open Internet Explorer.

      Locate the Bing toolbar -- it is usually under the Address Bar.

      Look for the black "X" next to the toolbar. Click the "X" to close the Bing Bar. If the "X" does not show up, right-click the Bing bar and select "Close."

      Click "Disable" when asked by Bing if you really want to close and disable the toolbar. In order to close the Bing Bar, you must agree to disabling it.

Tips & Warnings

  • Re-enable the Bing Bar by clicking "Tools," and then "Manage Add-ons." Click the "Bing Bar" and then click "Enable" to re-enable the Bing Bar.
