Even if you prevent some people from commenting on your updates, they may still have viewing access unless you restrict it.

One of the best parts of posting to your Facebook profile is the feedback you receive from your friends on the social networking site. By default, Facebook allows your friends to comment on your posts, including status updates. If you change your settings to prohibit comments on your posts, the process is easily reversed so that you can once again interact with other Facebook users in the comment section beneath your status updates.

Instructions

    • 1

Click on the "Account" link in the upper right corner of any Facebook screen and choose "Privacy Settings" from the menu.

    • 2

Click the "Customize Settings" link at the bottom of the "Sharing on Facebook" section.

    • 3

Scroll down to the "Things others share" group.

    • 4

Click on the gray icon to the right of "Permission to comment on your posts," which exposes a drop-down menu with privacy setting options. Choose anything above "Only Me" (found in the "Customize" option) and people will be able to comment on your status update posts. If you choose "Friends Only" comment privileges are restricted to people on your friend list, while options like "Friends of Friends" or "Everyone" give commenting access to more people.
