How to Call as a Private Caller

Caller ID is the feature that shows your number when you make an outgoing call. Depending on the type of phone and the carrier, the other person will see your number and even your name. When you block your caller ID, the person will see "Private," "Restricted" or "Unknown" instead of your information. You can block caller ID on a per-call basis, block caller ID to a specific line only or block it on all calls.

Instructions

    • 1

Dial "*67" on the phone's keypad.

    • 2

Enter the number you want to call.

    • 3

Press "SEND" or "FLASH" if you are on a cellular phone or cordless phone.

Tips & Warnings

  • Some carriers allow you to block caller ID when you call a specific number, or block caller ID on all outgoing calls on your line. Check the caller ID page on your carrier's support site to see if it offers this service, and how to activate it on your account.

  • Caller ID block does not block your number when you dial toll-free or 900 numbers.
