How to Be a Successful Advisor
Advisors are needed in all walks of life to provide people with guidance in subjects in which they themselves don't have adequate knowledge or experience. Advisers could provide insight into financial matters, personal relationships, business and other endeavors. Becoming a successful adviser depends on building up a client base and treating those clients ethically, while providing results they couldn't easily duplicate with someone else.

1
Study a specific subject diligently. If you wish to be a financial advisor, you should have intimate knowledge and experience in multiple areas of finance and investing. A health advisor should either have a doctorate or be otherwise well-versed in health and anatomy.
-
2
Develop contacts in the area about which you wish to advise. For example, a gambling advisor should know bookies and sports experts in Las Vegas and other places so he can get information when needed and also get his client special services that are otherwise hard to get.

-
3
Start with a small pool of clients. You may only be advising one person to start with. Take care of that client and ask that he tell his friends and business contacts about your services. Word-of-mouth is very useful in getting new business.
-
4
Cater to your clients. A good advisor needs to be on call and available at all times since your clients could need your advice at any given time. If you are difficult to get a hold of during a crisis, you'll be expendable.
-
5
Act professionally and friendly to everyone. You never know when a new potential client can come into your life and it just takes that person to see you have one bad moment to ruin that possible relationship forever.
