How to Deodorize a Vacuum Cleaner
You expect your vacuum cleaner to get the carpets clean, not fill the air with offensive smells. But odor can develop in the vacuum, especially if you have pets that shed heavily. 1
Change the vacuum cleaner bag, if applicable, even if it's not full. Empty the vacuum's canister if it doesn't use a bag. Pet hair, dander and other organic substances will start to smell bad if allowed to sit for long periods of time. Place a scented fabric softener sheet in the new bag, which will help reduce odors.
