How to Check a Product to Sell for Saturation
Products created for distribution to consumers go through four stages. The first stage is the introduction to the market. The item reaches a growth stage followed by a maturity stage. It may take months to reach the saturation stage. Life cycles of a new electronic gadget reach saturation stage and sales decline each time a newer model is brought out. Such is the case with the life cycle of videocassette players and tapes, which have become obsolete with the introduction of newer technology. There are a few ways you can determine if a product has reached the saturation point.

1
Check major retailers to see how many are offering the product to consumers. This can be done by physically checking the store or watching ads in newspapers or checking catalogs.
-
2
Determine if the product is still being advertised on TV and radio or if it has been replaced by ads for a newer product.

3
Search auction and sales sites on the Internet to see if the product is still available. Check past sales and prices to see if there was a price decrease, which may mean that the product reached saturation stage.
-
4
Conduct keyword searches to determine the rate at which online users are looking for the product. Keyword searches in major search engines such as Google give the number of times a search was done for a particular product or phrase.
