Cover an unsightly dining room chair with a chair cover and a sash.

If you have a banquet hall full of chairs and you are looking for an easy way to dress up the chairs, then cover them with cloth chair covers and sashes. You will want to make sure that the company you rent these items from steams or irons the covers and sashes. If you do not want to pay to have this done --- or the service is not included in the rental --- make sure you do it on your own. Otherwise, the chairs will not look polished.

Instructions

    • 1

Fill a fabric streamer with water and plug in the machine to a power outlet. Allow the steamer to heat up. When you see steam pouring out from the steamer nozzle, you can begin steaming the chair cover and sash.

    • 2

Move the steamer nozzle over the chair cover and sash, waving it about 2 inches from the surface of the material. If the material gets wet, you are too close. Do not put your hand beneath the fabric or too close to the nozzle, as you will burn your hand.

    • 3

Slip the chair cover over the chair. Pull the cover taut against the legs of the chair. The cover will flow to the bottom of the legs.

    • 4

Pick up the sash. Stand behind the chair and place the sash around the belly of the chair. Pull the sash gently around to the back. Loop the ends around each other to form a loose tie. You also can tie the sash into a bow if your sash is long enough.
