How to Type Subtitles Within Adobe Premiere Pro
Adobe Premiere Pro is a part of the Adobe Creative Suite, and is generally considered an advanced video editing application. Adding subtitles to your video projects is very detailed and customizable. The basic process of adding them is relatively simple, and you can then experiment with making them look and feel exactly as you want. The only downside is that every new subtitle has to be added as a separate track, which can be quite time-consuming.
Instructions
-
-
1
Open the video project to which you want to add subtitles by selecting "Open Project..." from the "File" menu.
-
2
Click "Title" in the menu bar at the top of the screen and select "New Title." Choose "Default Still," and the "New Title" box will pop up.
-
-
3
Give your titles file a new name in the pop-up box if you need to and click "OK." The other settings in the pop-up box relate to your video settings, so you shouldn't need to change these.
-
4
Click anywhere in the frame of the title box and type your subtitles in the text box that appears.
-
5
Use the various editing options in the "Title Styles" and "Title Properties" panes to modify the appearance of your subtitles.
-
6
Close the Title window to return to your video project.
-
7
Right click on the name of any track in the timeline panel, and select "Add tracks..." Click "OK" in the pop-up box to add the new track.
-
8
Click on the file icon next to your new title file in the project browser panel on the left of the Adobe Premiere Pro application, and drag it into the timeline track that you just created. Drop it roughly where you want it to appear in your video.
-
9
Click on the left edge of the title block in the timeline, and drag it to the point at which you want the title to start. Look at the video preview in the top right corner of the application, and the timer underneath it, to see where exactly you're setting the start point of the subtitles. Repeat this process on the right edge of the title block to set the end point of the subtitles.
-
10
Repeat the whole process to add more subtitles, and drag them into the same timeline track.
