How to Check a Ticket Status

Checking the status of a traffic ticket is accomplished by either visiting the website of or calling the help-line for the Superior Court of the city in which you were ticketed. When you are handed a traffic ticket by a police officer, you are often given a court date at which you are to appear. What isn't on the ticket is how much the fine is going to cost you. In order to check the status of your traffic ticket, including the cost of the fine, due date and more, you must get assistance from the city's Superior Court.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to the Superior Court website for the state in which you live.

    • 2

Click "Help" or "Contact Us" to view a list of court phone numbers. Look for the Traffic Court number.

    • 3

Call the phone number and speak with a representative. Tell the court representative you are checking on the status of a traffic ticket. Traffic tickets include speeding, moving and parking violations among other offenses, so give the representative your ticket number, which is often found at either the top or bottom of the traffic ticket. The representative will tell you the current status of your ticket, including how much the fine is going to cost, the date the fine is due and, if you were given one by the ticketing police officer, your court date.

Tips & Warnings
