Spinach is a green leafy vegetable. It's high in vitamin A, several B vitamins and vitamin C; the minerals calcium, iron, manganese, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, selenium and zinc; it's low in calories and high in fiber. Steaming spinach in a microwave is easy and quick, and preserves much of its nutrition. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

      Wash the spinach leaves, but do not drain. It is best to microwave a small amount at a time, about 1/2 cup to 1 cup.

      Remove stems and chop the spinach.

      Place spinach in microwavable dish.

      Cover with plastic wrap, but leave an opening to vent the steam.

      Microwave on high for two to three minutes.

      Let spinach stand for another two minutes, then drain and serve.
