How to Hook Skype to a Router
Using an Ethernet connection when you plan to be on Skype will allow you a more stable connection and thus better service from the Skype server, although wireless connections will work. Then connect your computer with the Skype software on it to your router so you can begin placing voice and video calls over the Internet.

Insert one end of the Ethernet cable into one of the "LAN" ports on the rear of your router.

Plug the other end of the cable into the Ethernet port on your computer that has Skype installed.

Connect the USB cable from the webcam if you are using an external webcam. If you are using a built-in camera, the Skype software will automatically initialize the camera.
