Keep a loose-fitting ring secure with the help of a ring guard.

Whether you are the recent recipient of a shiny new engagement ring, or the proud buyer of your own finger jewels, a loose-fitting ring can be a particularly expensive liability on top of an annoying distraction. Luckily, a simple and inexpensive small plastic piece, known as a ring guard, in the shape of a tube or crescent can provide a snug fit in just a few seconds while you wait to have the ring resized. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

  1. Tube-Like Guard

    • 1

Roll the guard in your fingers until you locate the side of the guard with a slit down its length.

    • 2

Place the side with the slide against the inside back of the ring. Push the guard against the ring until the back of the ring slides into the guard.

    • 3

Wear the ring with the seam of the guard facing out away from your finger. Otherwise the pressure your finger puts on the guard may push it off the ring.

    Crescent-Shaped Guard

    • 4

Place the small crescent-shaped guard in the center hole of the ring with the convex side of the guard facing the back of the ring and the concave side of the guard facing the front.

    • 5

Move the guard inside the ring until the back of the ring is resting in the groove on the convex side of the guard.

    • 6

Side the ring onto your finger carefully while holding the guard in place from the back of the ring. Your finger keeps the guard in place while you wear the ring, so be careful not to lose the guard anytime you take your ring off.
