How to Catch Crawfish in "Pokemon Diamond"

Pokemon has two crawfish-like characters, a corphish and the crustacean-like Pokemon, Crawdaunt, which removes opponents from its pond habitat through the use of its pincers. Crawdaunt evolves from its previous form, Corphish. Both forms of the Pokemon can be found in the wild in "Pokemon: Diamond." A water- and dark-type Pokemon, Crawdaunt resorts to extreme displays of aggression to protect itself and its home. In the wild, it appears between Levels 35 and 55 in "Diamond." Players should bring a Pokemon party with Pokemon of varying levels.

Instructions

    • 1

Travel to the Sinnoh region's Celestic Town, located west of Route 210 and east of Route 211 and Mt. Coronet. Players should first obtain the Super Rod from the Fishing Guru in the Fight Area, which will increase the player's chances of finding Corphish and Crawdaunt. Approach the water in Celestic Town and use the Super Rod.

    • 2

Continue to use the Super Rod until you encounter either Corphish or Crawdaunt. Players will encounter Corphish in approximately one out of every three wild encounters. Corphish appears between Levels 30 and 40. In one out of approximately 20 encounters, players can expect to battle Crawdaunt. Weaken the Pokemon and use a Pokeball to capture it.

    • 3

Level up Corphish through battle until it reaches its next level. Ordinarily, Corphish evolves into Crawdaunt when it reaches Level 30. In the wild, players may encounter Corphish at much higher levels. When it levels up, it will automatically start to evolve. Do not press any buttons to allow Corphish to evolve into Crawdaunt.

Tips & Warnings

  • Water-type Pokemon are weakest against grass- and electric-type opponents. Include some of these Pokemon in your party to battle against Crawdaunt or Corphish. Doing so can minimize the amount of damage your Pokemon incur and hasten the capturing process.

  • During the day, players will only encounter Corphish or Crawdaunt while using the Super Rod. Otherwise, players can find these two Pokemon while using any fishing rod. Players can also capture Corphish and Crawdaunt at Celestic Town in "Platinum" and "Pearl."

  • Do not use Pokemon more than a few levels higher than Corphish or Crawdaunt. Attacks may knock the Pokemon out rather than weakening them.
