How to Create Your Own Ugg Boots
The Australian UGG boots continue to take the fashion world by storm, even after 30 years in the industry. These boots that resemble sweaters keep feet warm and comfortable during the cold of winter; however, at the time of publication, this stylish footwear can also be quite expensive, with prices reaching over $100 per pair. Save money by creating your own boots from simple household items such as an old sweater and flat shoes while looking just as trendy in them.

1
Choose an old sweater or winter coat from your current wardrobe that you are willing to cut or purchase one at a local thrift store. Make sure the material of the sweater or coat is comfortable against your skin.
-
2
Cut each complete sleeve from the sweater where it meets the shoulder of the sweater. Turn each sleeve inside out. Keep the remains of the sweater nearby for later use.
-
-
3
Pull one sleeve over one of your legs by the cuff of the sleeve so that the shoulder end of the sleeve is by your foot. Align the seam of the sleeve with your heel. Put on a flat shoe or slipper and pull the shoulder end of the sleeve over the edges of the shoe.
-
4
Pull the excess sleeve material in toward your ankle so that the material takes the shape of your foot and pin the material in place. Make sure that you are comfortable with the shape and cut off the excess material.
-
5
Step out of the shoe and remove the boot shape from your leg carefully without losing any pins. Sew down the edge of the boot to form a seam wide enough to include both sides of the knit. Fit your shoe inside the sleeve, making sure that the sleeve is still inside out and that it is covering the heel of the shoe.
-
6
Heat up a glue gun and form a line of glue directly above the heel of the shoe. Press the edge of the boot-shaped sleeve to the line of glue. Make sure that the seam is centered and continue the gluing process around the entire shoe.
-
7
Allow the glue to dry for a few minutes and turn the sleeve right-side out. Try the whole boot on to ensure that you have created a comfortable fit.
-
8
Cut 6 to 10 inches from the bottom of the body of the sweater to form the cuffs of the boot and snip this piece into two halves. Wrap one half around what will become the top of your boot. Pin the cuff to note the placement and trim it accordingly, making sure that the width of the cuff matches the width of the boot.
-
9
Slip the cuff inside the boot and align the top of the cuff with the top of the boot. Pin around the circumference of the cuff and boot, making sure that the seams of each are also aligned. Seam the two pieces of fabric together and turn the cuff over the top of the boot.
-
10
Repeat the entire process to create the second boot.
