How to Make a Trendy Ringbearer Pillow

Make a modern ringbearer's pillow to carry your rings to the alter.

Make a trendy ring bearer's pillow with smooth, sleek satin with a tone-on-tone ribbon and bow. Add a little bit of glamor with some imitation gemstones or pearls. To coordinate the ring bearer pillow with the wedding's color scheme, cut the squares for the pillow from two of the wedding colors. Use the darker color for the back of the pillow and the light color for the front of the pillow.

Things You'll Need

• Satin fabric
• Chalk
• Scissors
• Sewing needle
• Thread
• Cotton batting
• 1-inch-wide ribbon
• 1/4-inch-wide ribbon
• Imitation gemstones or pearls
• Fabric glue

Instructions

1. Lay your satin fabric on your work surface, and draw two 9-inch squares on the fabric with chalk. Cut out the squares.

2. Lay one satin square on the other with good sides facing inward. Sew around three sides with a small straight stitch, about 1/2 inch away from the edges. Sew the fourth side in the same manner, but leave a 2-inch-wide gap. Make the gap approximately 3 inches from one corner.

3. Pull the fabric through the gap to turn the pillow right-side out. Insert cotton batting into the gap to fill the entire pillow. Tuck the edges of the gap inward and sew the remainder of the pillow closed.

4. Measure around the pillow. Cut a piece of 1-inch-wide ribbon in the same color to this length plus 1/2-inch. Wrap the ribbon around the pillow, approximately 3 inches from one corner. Pin the ends of the ribbon in the front center of the pillow. Sew the ribbon ends in place and remove the sewing pins.

5. Cut an 8-inch-long piece of the same ribbon. Tie the ribbon in a bow.

6. Cut two pieces of 1/4-inch-wide ribbon in the same color, each to about 8 inches in length. Pin one end of each ribbon to the underside of the knot in the bow. Sew the ribbon ends in place. Pin the bow over the top of the ribbon ends on the pillow, and sew the bow to the pillow.

7. Apply a drop of fabric glue to the back of about 20 imitation gemstones or pearls. Press the gemstones to the front of the pillow in random order. Keep all of the gemstones below the ribbon on the pillow.
