How to Be Anonymous on Truth Box

Truth Box is an application that Myspace or Facebook users can post on their profile pages. Other users can then write their thoughts, opinions and questions into the box while remaining anonymous. In theory, a Truth Box is anonymous by default, but there are codes available for owners of the Truth Box to utilize in finding out who has posted in their Truth Box. To help insure anonymity, there are a few steps that can be taken.

Find a public access computer lab. Using a public computer helps ensure that the IP address used to post in Truth Box cannot be traced back to your personal computer. It is important to note, though, that many public computers maintain logs of who uses them and when. This means that someone could, in theory, trace the IP address of the post to a public computer, then use a log to discover who was using the computer at that time.

Sign into a social network that uses Truth Box and create a false profile. To do this, you will need an email address that is also registered under a false name.

    • 3

Use the persona of the false account that you have created to log onto the profile of a person with a Truth Box where you wish to leave a comment. Type into the Truth Box and hit "Submit." The comment will be submitted anonymously, but if the person has a code installed to reveal the submitter, it will show either the false account name or the IP address of the public computer.
