How to Troubleshoot the GBC H420
To use the GBC H420 laminator, insert a paper document and wait for it to come out with sheets of plastic molded to both sides. Lamination provides documents protection from water damage, dirt and markings. A laminated surface can be marked on with a dry-erase marker and the markings can be erased with a damp or dry cloth. Many offices use laminating machines to protect documents.

1
Press the power button, which is located on the panel of buttons on the right side of the machine. The power button is the button that is furthest left on the series of buttons.
-
2
Check to ensure the machine is plugged in if it does not come on. If it is plugged in and still won't come on, allow time for the machine to warm up before use.
-
-
3
Remove transportation tabs that come with the machine before the first use. If they are left on, the machine will not operate properly.
-
4
Check the indicator light on the power button. If it is glowing, the machine is powered on.
-
5
Warm up the machine for roughly five minutes every time you use it for hot lamination. For cold lamination, it can be used immediately. If you are attempting to do a hot lamination without letting the machine warm up, your problem lies in the timing.
-
6
Ensure you are using the correct pouch thickness for either hot or cold lamination. Using the wrong thickness can affect your laminating negatively.
-
7
Clean the machine. The machine comes with a cleaning card that should be used to scrape off any excess adhesive that is left from the laminating process. The machine should be cleaned after each laminating session.
