How to Update the Limit Reached on Twitter

Update the users you follow on Twitter to maximize the number of relevant users in your network and encourage Twitter to raise the limit it imposes on the number of users you follow. The greater your ratio of followers to following, the more users you can follow beyond Twitter's default following limit -- 2,000 users. Un-follow users whose Twitter feeds aren't relevant to yours and follow different users whose content better matches yours to increase the chances of being followed in return.

Instructions

    • 1

Log in to Twitter and click "Following" to display a list of the users you follow. Browse through the list and select the "Follow" button next to any user whose feed is irrelevant or unrelated to yours to un-follow him. Doing this frees up room for you to follow additional users and additionally increases the followers-following ratio by decreasing the number of people you follow.

    • 2

Input search terms or keywords relevant to your Twitter feed into the "Search" field at the top of Twitter and hit "Enter" to pull up tweets relevant to your Twitter feed. Add users who tweet relevant topics; this optimizes the chances you receive a follow in return.

    • 3

Begin gradually following users above and beyond the 2,000-user limit as your ratio of followers-following increases. Un-follow irrelevant users and follow relevant users whenever Twitter informs you you've reached another limit to increase the follower-following ratio and resume being able to follow more users.
