How to Microwave Fresh Grapes for Jelly
Homemade grape jelly is a delicious treat that can be shared with those you love. Make a simple grape jelly by microwaving the grapes instead of cooking them with special equipment on the stove top. This works great for small batches of jam and can be completed in a relatively short amount of time. Jelly makes a great gift and is nice to have on hand, in the refrigerator, for a rainy day. Things You'll Need
- Microwave
- 16 cup microwave safe bowl
- Fine mesh strainer
- Wooden spoon
- Jars with lids
- 3 cups grapes
- 2 tbsp. water
- 1 tbsp. lemon juice
- 2 tbsp. powdered pectin
- 2 cups granulated sugar

Place 3 cups of grapes in a 16 cup microwave safe bowl. Add two tbsp. water. Microwave on high for 4 minutes. Remove grapes from the microwave and strain with a fine mesh strainer to remove the skins and pulp.

Stir in 1 tbsp. lemon juice, 2 tbsp. powdered pectin and 2 cups of granulated sugar. Stir the mixture with the wooden spoon until the pectin is dissolved and everything is mixed together.

Microwave on high for 2 minutes. Remove and stir, scraping down the sides of the bowl. Repeat in 2-minute increments until the jelly is frothy and thick. You can test to see if the jelly is done by placing it on a chilled plate in the freezer for a few minutes to cool it down. Remove any foam on the top of the finished jelly.

Add the finished jelly to jars and place in the refrigerator. The jelly will last for up to three weeks.
