How To: Curves From Studio Tools to Illustrator thumbnail
Adobe Illustrator gives users multiple editing tools.

Computer graphics programs allow artists to create drawings and images in realistic ways. The Alias StudioTools program, now called the Autodesk AliusStudio, is a library of design programs for illustrations. Similar in its intention but not its interface, Adobe Illustrator is a popular design program that is featured in the company's Creative Suites package. Each software uses a different file system to store the images and projects, therefore you must save objects such as curves to a different format when using two programs in tandem.

Instructions

    • 1

Open your StudioTools program and create a new document. If you already have a document or specific file in mind for this particular task, open it at this time. In order to transfer your StudioTools file to Illustrator, you must create a printing file called PostScript to maintain the image quality.

    • 2

Navigate to the file menu of the StudioTools program and select the printing or print setup option to access the PostScript file. Set the Output to File option in the printer to create one of these .PS files. If you do not have a printer, download the PDFCreator software. Both .PS and .PDF file types are compatible with Illustrator, therefore both are now options for saving.

    • 3

Open the Illustrator program to load the saved curves from the StudioTools program. Close the StudioTools program to optimize CPU when creating the rest of your project. Navigate your mouse to the File menu and select the Open option. Open the saved .PS or .PDF file of the saved curves and your content will load in the Illustrator project.
