How to Post a Profile on Craigslist

Craigslist is a website that allows users to post free classified ads in hundreds of cities around the world. Although having a Craigslist account opens up more options for posting ads, all you need to post on Craigslist is a valid email address. Many Craigslist ads include photos of the products being advertised. If you would like to include a link to your profile in your Craigslist ad, you can do so using simple HTML code.

Instructions

1. Open a Web browser and navigate to Craigslist.org. Scroll down the page and locate your country, state and the nearest city. Click on the city to visit the corresponding Craigslist page.

2. Click "Post to Classifieds" in the upper left corner of the page.

3. Click on the category for your ad that you want to post and then click "Continue." For example, you can post a "Personal/Romance" ad, an "Event" ad or even a "For Sale" ad.

4. Click on a sub-category for your ad from the list and click "Continue."

5. Type an ad title into the "Posting Title" field. Specify other optional details in the fields to the right of the title. These fields are different for each Craigslist section. For example, you may be able to specify a price or a location.

6. Type a description for your ad in the "Posting Description" section. You can add any relevant information, including linking to a profile on another website. To link out to an external profile, add the following line of code:

   <a href="http://URL.com">Link Text</a>

   Replace "http://URL.com" with the URL for your profile and replace "Link Text" with any appropriate text message. Some sections in Craigslist prohibit posting URLs.

7. Click the "Add/Edit Images" button. Click "Browse" next to each of the four image blocks below the ad to upload images to your ad from your computer. Click "Continue" to preview your ad.

8. Click "Continue" to post your ad to Craigslist.
