How to Get a Sextant From Murphy in "Runescape"
"RuneScape" is a free multiplayer online role-playing game that includes several side quests. Among these are treasure trail quests in which the player must locate a treasure using clues dropped by defeated monsters. While some treasure trails can be completed without a sextant, most require that the player's character have a sextant in their inventory. There is only one way to obtain this item initially.

Obtain a clue scroll. Clue scrolls are dropped by certain monsters you will routinely fight as you progress. Not all monsters drop them. Some examples of low-level monsters that drop clue scrolls include the Anja, Cuffs and Hengel monsters. Continue fighting monsters until one randomly drops a clue scroll. Take the clue scroll when this occurs.

Talk to Professor Gronigen. He is located in the observatory reception area, north of the Castle Wars section of the world map. He will be labeled as Observatory Professor on-screen as you approach him. During the conversation, Gronigen will mention sextants and suggest you find one in order to go on treasure hunting expeditions. Leave the observatory reception area once the conversation is complete.

Go to the town of Port Khazard. It is located in the Kingdom of Kandarin, directly south of the capital city, Ardougn. When you arrive, go to the docks in Port Khazard. They are found in the southeastern part of the town.

Locate Murphy. He will be standing on the northernmost pier in Port Khazard's dock area. He looks like an old man with a beard wearing a traditional sailor's uniform.

Speak with Murphy. If you have spoken with Professor Gronigen and you have a coordinate clue in your inventory, Murphy will automatically give you the sextant.
