Duromatic Pressure Cooker Instructions
Pressure cookers have become more and more popular for use in everyday cooking. They cook food in two-thirds less time than normal stove top cooking, perfect for braising meats and stews that would normally take hours. Pressure cooking also retains more vitamins and minerals in your food and allows you to cook with less oil than you might normally need to prevent sticking. Modern pressure cookers are also much safer than old-fashioned models, making them a great addition to any kitchen. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Wash the base, gasket and lid of your pressure cooker using soap and hot water. Rinse and pat dry. If you are using it for the first time, place a small amount of oil into the base and wipe it around the entire base using a paper towel.
-
2
Fill the base with whatever you are planning on cooking. You never want to fill the base of the pressure cooker more than two-thirds full, including liquid. When preparing items that expand when cooked, beans and grains, only fill half full. Always add some sort of liquid to a pressure cooker. Stir salt into the food and cooking liquid until it is completely dissolved. Not doing so can cause the salt to settle on the bottom and scorch your pressure cooker.

3
Check that the valve is screwed on tightly. Place the lid onto the base, spinning to seal and close. There should be a locking noise when the pressure cooker is properly sealed. The handles on the lid and base will also line up.
-
4
Place the pressure cooker on your heat source and turn it to high. When the pressure cooker has reached a cooking level, one red line will appear on the cooking valve. This is when the cooking time begins. When your food has reached maximum heat level another red line will appear. Lower your heat source if this occurs and continue to cook.

5
When you have reached your desired cooking time remove from the heat source and place in the sink. Run cold water over the top of the pressure cooker to release steam. Turn off the water and gently open the pressure cooker.
