Macrovision is a type of encryption that prevents people from pirating or copying movies from DVDs and Blu-ray discs. Macrovision created a program in 2005 that alters the format of DVDs, making them difficult to copy. While the encryption works, there are programs that can remove the Macrovision encoding. The bypass software alters some of the DVD's original features, such as title and menu, after the process is complete, but the video and audio content remains the same.
