How to Prevent Roller Marks
Painting with roller brushes makes the job go faster, but you will need to redo the entire project if you are seeing roller marks. Prevent roller marks before you start for the best result. Use high-quality paint with some sheen in it to help the paint go on smoothly. Buy the best-quality roller brushes, roller frame and roller pole you can find. Try adding a paint conditioner to the paint if it isn't going on smoothly at a ratio of 1/2 gallon of conditioner to 5 gallons of paint. Does this Spark an idea?

Prepare the walls for painting by sanding any rough spots with sandpaper, filling holes with a spackling compound and washing the walls with your regular wall cleaner.
-
2
Add a building primer to the wall before you start painting. This covers any previous roller marks and flaws and gets the wall ready to accept color. Apply the primer with a roller, and roll the brush downward in even strokes over the entire wall. This technique will even out paint and prevents marks.
