How to Install an Open Tibia Server (OTS)

Running your own server means you can control everything that happens on it.

Tibia is a free multi-player role-playing game that was created in Europe. Although there are official Tibia servers that people participate in, Open Tibia servers offer a way to host your own server for friends to play on. Open Tibia servers are available for all versions of the Tibia game. They feature full control over what appears in the game world items. You can customize monsters and quests through the use of add-ons.

Instructions

1. Navigate to the Sourceforge page for OpenTibia. Click on "Files" then on "opentibia server" to find the server executable.

2. Find the most recent version of the software by clicking on the link with the highest version number. Download the file that ends in "ZIP."

3. Extract the files to "C:\Program Files\" and look for the folder named "otserv" that is created.

4. Run "OTServ.exe" from the folder you just created. Your OpenTibia server is now running.

Tips & Warnings

• Customize your server by editing the files under the "data" subfolder.

• Running a server for more than four or five clients is enough to overload many home Internet connections.
