How to Respond to a Sublet Post on Craigslist

Subletting a furnished apartment can be an ideal short-term solution.

Depending on where you live, Craigslist might offer dozens or even hundreds of local opportunities for subletting. As you peruse these posts, chances are good that you will find at least one subletting situation that matches what you are looking for. Don't let the perfect opportunity pass you by. Instead, respond to the post promptly to begin the rest of the process. With any luck, you are also perfect a fit for the person who wishes to sublet the place.

Instructions

1. Open the Craigslist post regarding the subletting opportunity you wish to pursue.

2. Read the post thoroughly. Some posts provide a phone number and request that you call, possibly during certain hours, rather than send an email. This may be true even if the poster has provided an email address. If this is the case, call the number provided to speak further about the sublet opportunity.

3. Look near the top of the ad, just below the title, if the ad itself does not provide instructions for contact. You should see the words "Reply to:" followed by an email address. This may be a standard email address or it may be an anonymized address ending in "@craigslist.org."

4. Click this email address to reply to the poster. Alternatively, copy and paste it as the "To" address in an email service of your choice.
